About Leisa Clark

Toowoomba Artist

As an acrylic artist, Leisa’s work is inspired by the great Impressionists and the dynamic spirit of pop art culture. Her artistic approach is characterised by a purposeful use of vibrant colours, with the intention of evoking feelings of joy and a sense of hope. This expressive choice holds particular significance for individuals, such as herself, who grapple with the complexities of depression and anxiety.

Leisa loves to paint scenes that provide escape and respite from the stresses of our Western lifestyle, and capturing objects that inspire introspective contemplation.

Leisa is the founder of Pop’d Art Toowoomba, a coworking art studio and gallery for artists in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs.

Artist Statement

In my teens, I dreamt of being an artist, fuelled by a multitude of emotions bursting to get out and often finding myself creating long into the night. Despite these ambitions, external pressures to get a normal job led me into the Nursing and Midwifery profession.

A back injury, subsequent surgeries, and a battle with depression forced me to confront the fact that I was living a life shaped by others. Choosing to step away from Midwifery in my early 30’s marked my return to the creative path I had abandoned long ago.

In 2015, I embarked on a new journey delving into graphic design and web design, starting my own design business in 2017. In 2022, I rekindled my artistic passion, finding my path back to my roots as an artist, actively participating in multiple painting workshops and artist groups.

I love to capture scenes and objects that provide relief from our overwhelming Western World and make us reflect on our self, our beliefs and our understanding of this world. I tend to gravitate toward bright colours to hopefully bring joy into peoples lives.
